Bo Aiello Baseball Field to Be Dedicated at Modesto Junior College
Modesto, CA — Modesto Junior College (MJC) will honor one of its most influential figures in baseball history with the dedication of the Bo Aiello Baseball Field on April 24 at 1:40 p.m. The ceremony will take place at Jerry Streeter Baseball Park, recognizing the lasting legacy of Coach Paul "Bo" Aiello and his profound impact on Pirate baseball.
The field naming is made possible through a $100,000 naming rights gift secured by MJC Athletic Director David Voortman and MJC Foundation Director Emily Lawrence, thanks to the generosity of a dedicated donor committed to preserving the program's rich history.
Coach Aiello's connection to MJC spans decades—as a player, assistant coach, and head coach—cementing his place as one of the most successful and respected leaders in California Community College baseball. A standout catcher for MJC from 1971–73, Aiello continued his playing career at the University of Oregon before returning to Modesto to begin a coaching journey that would define generations.
Serving as MJC's head coach for 30 seasons (1982–2008, 2012–14), Aiello compiled an impressive 667–481 overall record, establishing himself among the winningest coaches in California Community College history. His tenure was marked not only by on-field success, but by his commitment to developing student-athletes who advanced to four-year universities and professional baseball, including numerous Major League Baseball draft selections.
"Bo Aiello represents everything we strive for in MJC Athletics—commitment, excellence, and a lifelong investment in student-athletes," said Athletic Director David Voortman. "This dedication, along with an endowed scholarship in his name, ensures his legacy will continue to inspire future Pirates who step onto this field."
Aiello's career began under the mentorship of legendary coach Jerry Streeter, for whom the ballpark is named. The two remained close friends and colleagues for more than four decades, shaping the culture and tradition of MJC baseball together.
In recognition of his extraordinary contributions to the sport, Aiello was inducted into multiple halls of fame, including the California Community College Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame and the Modesto Junior College Athletics Hall of Fame.
The April 24 ceremony will bring together former players, colleagues, community members, and supporters to celebrate Aiello's enduring influence on MJC and the broader baseball community. All are invited to attend.
